To serve as an interactive path to determine the level of suitability and personal preferences of any person or Newt who might find the idea of stomping around in snow on foot, and/or seeking adventure in ways not hitherto sanctioned or practiced by Shastian Tradition of previous years in a logical and straightforward manner by minimizing details and abstractions.
Please respond to each query as accurately as possible. For full details, please read the text “Bigfoot Wears Crampons!” here soon.

Wise decision, knave. Probably best that you proceeded no further as your level of natural curiosity is such that you would find little here of more interest than the latest bids for your business by clothing detergent and life insurance companies as they squabble for airtime on daytime television.
Perhaps some of these sites would be more in line with your interests and intentions:
Will you, or will you not attend the upcoming 7th Annual Mt. Shasta Snow Trip?
Will Attend
Will NOT Attend
Would you prefer to play a nice game of chess, or perhaps tic-tac-toe?

Ah, good ... a live ‘un! Well, then! If you’re not out of your mind, then maybe you are just not yet convinced that buses are more fun off the road than on!
I AM out of my mind!
I need convincing
Check out the Shasta Snow Trip videos page and also Back Road Bus Video
Have you attained “Newt” status by having been on the Shasta Trip before?
I am a Newt
I am still human
Then as a Newt-aspirant, you carry the responsibility of reading and assimilating all data available to you before you can proceed. As harsh as this may seem, you will later see the wisdom of emerging from your chrysalis state informed, aware, and prepared. If you have not read all accounts of The Mt. Shasta Snow Trip and seen all pictures and videos from Year One to present, start there, and then read the “Bigfoot Wears Crampons” article carefully.
Welcome back to the frenzy of anticipation, preparation, and general pre-Trip chaos! Details and plans/route suggestions for Friday, Sunday, and any Pre-Trips and/or Post-Trips have not yet been made, but Saturday’s activities have had some modifications suggested.
I want to do something completely different on Saturday
I like it the way it is
Well, it’ll be nice to have you on the Trip anyway, so have fun up there at Castle Lake, and catch us all some fish for Saturday Night’s Freezing Feast! See you there! We wish you well. Here are some fishing tips.
How would you like to brave the unknown, face unforseen disaster, see exciting new territory, and get some exercise?
I’m raring to go!
I’d rather play it safe.
Then you might really like these people.
Got bus-butt from too much driving? Wanna do something about it involving spending several hours out of sight of your bus, and on foot?
I can handle anything!
But I thought this was a bus trip!
You are more than welcome to do as you wish, and you can change your mind at any time...if in doubt, come prepared! Get back in there and try again!
Do you like doing things that can make you breathe heavy?
I wanna breathe heavy!
Breathing too deeply makes me flatulent.
We recommend learning to eat unprocessed organic food, getting regular exercise, and in extreme cases, visiting a nutritional therapist or acupuncturist. Come on back and see us after your recovery! Shasta Snow Trip Site
With unusual strap-on devices that cause you to walk funny?
Sounds intriguing—tell me more, tell me more!
Now you’re just getting perverse!
No, no... THIS is perverse! Ministry of Silly Walks
Even if the exertion could leave certain parts of you sore and the rest quivering like jello due to various unusual stresses on your system, an irrefutable sense of exhaustion and exposure to the elements?
I’m quivering, but with anticipation -- get on with it!
OK, whatever...I don’t really have time for this...what’s the scoop?
Well, it sounds like you are interested in joining a snowshoeing expedition that will take several hours out of the available time on Saturday. Still game? Follow one of these links to find out all about it:
The short and sweet version please! I know that although I might be missing out on details, I know I can always come back and get them later.
I simply must know everything or I will go mad!

-A Synopsized Proposal-
Regarding the audacious Snowshoe Expedition to the Sierra Club Cabin at “Horse Camp” from Bunny Flat
Based on an inspiration related to me by Hippie Tim, instead of getting up late on Saturday and spending all day at Castle Lake and getting stuck, we will get up earlier, go to Castle Lake, then take a railroad frontage road to the Black Butte Road, which should be fun, explore and rampage a bit, and then go up to Bunny Flat where we don snowshoes and hike up to the Sierra Club cabin (a mile or so), then return, hopefully in time to enjoy a nice hot fire, fresh trout, and the camaraderie of the rest of the Newts.
For this venture you will very likely need snowshoes and other appropriate winter apparel. Research it if you are not experienced, and try to get a hold of some snowshoes if you plan on participating. Attempts will be made to have some extra sets, but availability will be limited, so act accordingly.
So: Hey guys wanna take this road up to this trail to some Sierra cabin?"
Besides, this IS the Mt. Shasta Snow Trip! What better way to celebrate the seventh year of this great event than to enjoy an afternoon on the mountain itself? I must say, this idea of Tim’s is a bit more realistic than my hopes to summit Mt. Shasta, but it gives us a taste, and I’m gonna do it regardless. You with me?
